Respectfully returned to Mr. W.H. Hunter agent &c (thro' S.A.C. Montgomery) for further report.
The within letter specifies a claim by Thornton Simmons vs A.T. Chisborn of Chambers Co. referred for  investigation
Mr. Hunter in returning the same encloses what is presumed to be a transcript of the accounts respectively of Harry and Thornton Simmons with the firm J.N. & J.H. Chisholm tho' nowhere stated to be such.
This with no remarks explanatory as to the bearing upon this case of said papers which form the disimilarity of names cannot be considered as referring to the same matter.
The attention of Mr. Hunter is called to the fact that papers for the action of superior authority, will invariably be forwarded through the office of the Sub Asst. Commr of his District

Respectfully returned to Bvt Lieut Col. E. Beecher Asst. Commr. of Alabama to know if the politcal disabilities of Mr. P.T. Wright have been removed. Unless he can take the oath prescribed in Act of March 5" 1865 he cannot be paid. It was a violation of law to place him on duty until he had taken the oath above referred to.
