Groves, AAQM and thereby been made acquainted with the fact that Captain Buckley Supt of schools is not the Executive and Disbursing Officer of his Department, also that he has given up the building formerly occupied by Dr. Hood to Bvt Silsby; and that he has received a communication from Captain Buckley this morning desiring him to make a contract for one hundred seats for school purposes. |

Requests an opinion as to the eligibility adaptation, legal title, and value of the same, and the cost of necessary repairs and alterations for the purpose indicated. | 

| June 25th/67 67 | Smith Wm H. of Alabama | Washington, Dec 20th 1866 Suggests that Congress appoint a set of loyial "Commissioners of Railroad Public Lands" over those grants of May 17th 1856, and June 13th 1856, which have reverted to the general Govt in order that these tracts may be thrown open to loyal settlers, also urges that honest earnest and loyial men be employed in this Bureau, and if a civilian appointment for Assistant Commissioenr of Ala. is made, recomends Judge M.J. Saffold for the position. Believe the above suggestions very important in view of the complete reorganization of Alabama as a loyial state |
