Turner Postmaster, among papers found was an affidavit purporting to be made by Jones Danforth Agt. Freedmans Bureau.- that the same was first denied by Mr D. but upon being confronted with his own writing, stated that he must have been drunk when he signed it. &c. - States that citizens give Danforth a bad name & that he abuses the trust reposed in him. |

States that Henry Witherby (col'd) was convicted of crime at the full term of circuit court 1865 and sentenced to be hung States that he after great expense and loss of time suceeded in obtaining a pardon for Witherby and in consideration he Witherby bound himself to Williams or estate for his Witherbys lifetime. States that he Witherby has left him and asks that he be restorede to his service. |
