To Capt Birckley Superintendant Freedmans Bureau, and to each and every officer intrusted therein or in any manner authorized to take Cognizance of this Certificate.

I hereby certify that I was employed by Green a free Colored man (formerly the property of Thos Smith) to defend him before a Court held by S. W. Coleman Esq. a Justice of the Peace for Prattville Precinct Autauga County on Saturday the 26th just on a charge of Larceny - and I further Certify that negro testimony was introduced by me on the part of the defense of Green, and that such testimony was received and considered by the Court and that there was no testimony offered at the Trial of Green neither of Negroes nor otherwise that was rejected by the Court, and I furthermore state that I believe he had a fair and impartial Trial.

Respectfully Cecily Brown
