Bureau of Free Labor
Montgomery Ala Sept. 15th/65

Brig. Genl. Swayne
Commissioner of Alabama

General:

I have the honor to report that a colored woman named Louisa Watson, was brought with seven children to the edge of this city, from the plantation of David Watson in Tallapoosa Co. and put out of the wagon by Mr Watson into the street, when they remained from Wednesday till this morning. This family was left in a very destitute condition, and Watson had not interest enough in them even to report them at this office.

Were not such instances of frequent occurrence, I would not think it worth while to call your attention to the matter.

A family was left in the same way, a few nights since in front of Montgomery Hall
