His section of Alabama contains a dense population of colored people  Large numbers were brought here from Mississippi and Louisiana during the war, which produced a surplus of labor: this, of course, complicates the duties of the Freedmens Bureau, yet Capt. Cridenwise has so managed the question, that he has
at no time, had but a very small number of his hands for whom he was required to provide a support.

I believe it will be greatly to interest of the government, the Freedmen and the community to have Captain Cridenwise retained as Asst. Supt. at this point.
