I have the honor to inform you that Chaplain Herrick "5th Minn Infantry" who was mentioned by us in connection with the superintendency at this Post is absent on leave. And would Respectfully recommend Captain George Ryan "Co. D. 47th Illinois Infantry" as a man Eminently qualified for the position. Capt. Ryan is a Veteran Soldier and lost an Arm at Spanish Fort, Ala. His command is stationed at Selma Ala.
