Colonel: I have the honor to report as follows, in reference to means of revenue at this place. I had an interview with one Maj. Nott, representing the collection of customs at Mobile. He says that the property under his care, and which he claims to control is captured property, in distinction from confiscable or abandoned. Whatever was in possession of the so called Confederate government at the time of the surrender is embraced in this category, and that includes all the lands, tenements, ruined works, &c, in the city.
