to state that in my opinion they can be made under proper management fully self supporting.  And further that something in the way of a Public Charitable institution is indispensable for the support of the poor and indigent Freedmen.

The article of argument entered into by the proprietor of the Plantation which I occupy and Capt Crydenwise Asst. Supt. was left by me with Gen. Swayne together with some other papers which I have never heard from since. The contract I should like to have immediately as I was authorized by the Gen. to settle up this Business. The vouchers are still in my possession
