Office Sup't R., F. & A.L.,
Sub District Huntsville, Alabama,
Dec 23rd 1865.

Col
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication in relation to the Colonies, I beg leave very respectfully to state that, I returned fully under the impression that, I should go forward & found two Colonies to provide for the poor upon, for the coming year,

And under that impression, made by the General when he said "go ahead" I have rented one farm at a great bargain, To this course I was impelled by the fact that the northern Counties have not perfectly affected yet their organizations, & the immediate wants of the old & helpless Cold People are imminent. Will see the Comrs at once however - as I can dispose of the farm rented, to one of the legatees.
