The application of James C White Lawrence H Scruggs & John O Robinson shows that each of them was a soldier in the Army of the so caled Confederate States, & as such left their houses in Madison County Alabama, & served in said Army till its surrender

They further show that neither of them held any office or rank in said Army during its existence higher than the office of Lieutenant colonel

They further show that after the said surrender each of them returned to his house in Madison County & after such return each one of them for himself took the Oath of Amnesty proscribed by by the President of the United States in his Proclamation of
