of 1863 had been removed and carried South of the Tennessee River, and consequently I have been unable to find the original will, (or a copy) of the said Adam Hall.
About the last of April 1864 I made a Statement of the above facts an dasking that the Executors pay the money and interest to said colored persons, and in July or August 1864 I obtained a partial examination of the case by the Provost Marshall of Huntsville, but what was done with the case I am unable to say, as I have not been able to learn what report the Provost Marshall made in the case- the case cannot be properly decided without having the will or a copy- and as the war is now over I presume that the papers and records of said county are returned, and the will can be found or a copy of it.
I therefore, as the Attorney for the said colored persons, respectfully ask you to take jurisdiction of the case, adn that you will have the case further investigated, and if there is any money due the said colored persons, tha tthe said Executor Beadle (Eckels being now dead) be compelled to pay to said colored persons the money due them with interest and costs.
Further, I respectfully ask you to permit me to attend to the case for the said colored persons in the further investigation of said case, and that I may be allowed a reasonable compensation for my services, and that I may have reasonable notice of the time and place of the hearing of said case.

I am Respectfully
