To his Excellency
L.E. Parsons
Governor &c

Dr Sir-

[[stamp]] THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF THE UNITED STATES [[/stamp]]

I am requested by Col Howell Rose to state to you that about 20 of his negro Women will not be controlled by him. He has sent 3 of them off with their children, but they have returned. Either by their management or with their consent, his place is overrun by crowds of soldiers, and negro men from Montgomery or elsewhere, and no respect is paid to him or his wishes or orders.
He would send them off, but has not the power to keep them away. He desired me to say to you that he would send them off to the Tallapoosa Run in his waggons if you would have them taken charge of them there.
Yrs Respy,
W T Hatchett
