None of these freedmen are old or infirm. They are all earning their living and no complaint has been heard by this Bureau coming from them. Their wrongs exist only in the fertile imagination of Mr. Giers, who was activated in the commencement of these proceedings more by a desire to help himself than these freedmen, who are now according to the testimony of the colored woman Rhoda worked harder by Mr. Giers than they were ever worked by Mr. Gouch as slaves. We ask that the order giving the possession of this corn to Mr. Giers be rescinded and that he be directed to return the corn to this department.
