I have the honor to request that in view of the following circumstances I may be furnished with Transportation for myself and Daughter, from Opelika Ala To New York City, New York.

I was living in the City of Atlanta Ga. when that place was taken by the U S Forces. under General Sherman, and was obliged to leave that place in persuance to General Sherman's Order depopulating the City. [[strikethrough]] at the time I desired to go to New York City, having Relatives and more friends there, than at any other place. My husband (now deceased) having been a Masonic Publisher in that City but was not allowed to do so. [[/ strikethrough]] I have been living here since that time but am now without means and am consequently unable to furnish myself with the desired transportation. I am therefore compelled to call upon your Bureau for assistance. trusting that in [[strikethrough]] justice [[/strikethrough]]
