Having made application to Maj. Gen. O. O. Howard, Chief of Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, etc., for appointment as a Superintendent of a Colony or Farm in this State, and having been directed by him to make my application to you, I have the honor respectfully to renew said request for said appointment.
It is proper for me to state that I belong to the 46th Reg't Wis. V. Infty - that I have been serving as Postmaster of said Regt. at Athens, Ala. until the 21st inst., when I was detailed as a Clerk in the office of the Dist. Prov. Marshal, at Huntsville; but it is expected the Regt. will soon be ordered home and mustered out of the service.
