War Department, Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, Washington, August 17, 1865. At the request of Col. Eaton I state that I am a graduate of a college, and rec'd from my alma mater, the degrees of A.M. & D.D., and from the church college of N.Y. that of D.D. & L.L.D., that I was the Prest. of the church college of Ky., have all my life been engaged, in educational, clerical & business pursuits, requiring executive management, that I have spent years in Brazil & the West Indies and many years in the Southern states and have been serving as Chaplain in Alexandria from the beginning of the war. - Our Hosptl. closes in 8 or 10 days. - See References - Chief Justice Chase (for 20 years), Harlan, Mr. Blair, Gen.
