plenty of fuel, water &c. In several instances the buildings, or huts, are very poor, and the Streets irregular. I suggested to the Capt. in charge that he lay out the colony with formality and the streets not less than (15) fifteen steps wide, and call upon the Q.M. Dpt. for all the tools and materials required, and applies all of his surplus force in erecting new and good buildings for the present use and with a view to extend the Colony as the Circumstances may require during the coming winter. Also, that he locate several of his Ass'ts. in the immediate vicinity of the Colony and cause them to take immediate supervision of the erecting of buildings and to visit every street and dwelling at least four times each day, to see that the inhabitants keep regular hours as regards labor, diet, sleep &c.
