B.F. Blow, agent of Jno. Marrast, 3. vs. Jerry Marrast, Abram Marrast, (Freedmen.)

Lowndes county, Hayneville Beat, No. 7.
Action for violation of written Contract. 
Tried before J. A. Pruitt, a Justice of the Peace, acting as Agent of the Freedmen's Bureau:- B. F. Blow, the plaintiff being duly sworn, doth depose as follows: He is the agent and superintendent on the plantation of said John Marrast, in this county, and that about ten days past the said Jerry Marrast and Abram Marrast absented themselves from labor in grinding Sugar Cane, and that they could not be found on the plantation. Deponent did not know at what time they quit work nor how long they had been absent from work. Deponent further testified that he had no complaint to make against these freedmen on account of their past conduct or work, but he complained only as to the particular time that they were absent from labor on a certain day. Deponent further testified that every freedmen on the plantation, about 80 odd in number, had violated their Contract by not working 10 hours in the day. Deponent made no complaint against them for such violation. (This was all the evidence given by the plaintiff.) The Freeman,
