more unable to get in and out of the house without assitance, I have a large family consisting of five Children and an aged Mother to support, Four of my children are Daughters three of them nearly grown, the fourth is about 14 years old, my only son is in his ninth year, my oldest Daughter, like myself is badly afflicted and I greatly fear she will be as long as she lives. Being thus badly afflicted I have been wholy unable to attend to my farming interest for the last four years consequently my negros have not made a support on my place for the last several years and what has been made has been waisted and squandered for the want of some one competent to take care of it, and to add to my already accumulated afflicting difficulties and privation, I had the misfortune to get my dweling house burnt with a large portion of the furniture and clothing. Just as we had began to feel the effect of the unfortunate war in which we have been engaged, and the consequent high prices and scarcity of all articles and the want of many have put it intirely out of my power
