Tuscaloosa Decr 17th 1865

by a meeting of the colored people of this city   We deem it proper to pertission to Gen Swain to grant to us the apponit ment of some man to the freedmen beauro and to this end a committe of eleven met and desired that Capt anderson of the 58 reg will give to us our just rights as we are desired of them by our sitzens our polies gard searches our houses for arms and takes what little money we have our men in the country needs some one to assist them in their contracts  We the same in the city also the legislature has pass a bill to prevent the freedmen from renting land are houses this is not the persuit of happiness therefore we hope you will help us out.
