Office of Assist Supt.
Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen &c
Greenville, Ala
Dec 21st 1865

Colonel C. Cadle. Jr.
A.A.G.

Colonel:
I have the honor to report that I have seized Fifty three tanned hides belonging to the late Rebel Government; they were stored in the Ala & Fla. R.R. Company's warehouse. There are now, hides undergoing the process of tanning in the country, but having no means of Transportation, I cannot at present ascertain the amount. I have received information of Cotton, Salt etc. hidden in the Country, but for the reasons above stated, cannot personally ascertain. I forward the Tri-monthly Reports for rations issued to Refugees, and Freedmen during the last ten days, but owing to Colonel Gandolpho, Commanding Post, having taken the affairs of the Bureau into his own hands up to yesterday, the amount of rations issued will not correspond with the Post Commissary's issues: however all issued from this office are on the Returns.
