Wishing information on different subjects, I have the honor to send communication to you for that purpose & the case where Freedmen from age or infirmities are unable to support themselves what is to be done with them. Tis a question that Chap Gardner could not properly decide when he was here and as applications are becoming so numerous for their removal need to know what is to be done with them. I feel called upon to ask the necessary information of you for my guidance in such cases in future. The planters generally are willing to keep them till the beginning of next year but o longer. Our plantation here is not sufficient to hold them. And even if it was we have not the necessary means of transportation here to offer them. And the planters either cannot or will not help them to get here.
