Sir:
It affords me great pleasure in giving this letter of introduction to you for Hon C. C. Langden to express my high opinion of his character as a gentleman. An editorial and political career of many years in the city of Mobile has established for him a well known reputation for ability, integrity and honor, which is illustrated by his election by the people as Representative to the present Congress 
Col Langdon has lent the influence of his talents and character to the great work of restoration and has given to the measures of your administration a warm, hearty, and cordial support and I desire especially to commend him to your excellencys confidence.
