by a high sense of duty
All I can therefore say under the circumstances is that we are still willing to carry out the original agreement, viz the Bureau to reroof the building, I secure the windows against weather, in consideration of two of two years occupation for the purpose above sufficed. At the end of two years the building to be handed over to the trustees for the educational purposes, originally intended.

The building, museum, apparatus we have cost $110.000 and is perhaps unequaled in compatibility by any one in the country; I although having no longer any personal interest in the matter it is painful to see such a temple of Science this thus wantonly destroyed. The roof, windows &c are in a deplorable condition.
I cannot but hope that Genl Swayne, when he reflects on all the circumstances will consider it within the rule of his duty to preserve the building I contend, as promptly as possible from the destruction which is rapidly progressing.
Ten thousand dollars would not repair the damages of the last four months
very respectfully
