viz. the Bureau to reroof the building and secure the windows against weather, in consideration of two years occupation for the purpose above specified. At the end of two years the building to be handed over to the trustees for the educational purposes originally intended. 
The building, museum, apparatus, &c have cost $110,000 and is perhaps unequalled in completeness by any one in the country, and although having no longer any personal interest in the matter it is painful to see such a temple of science thus wantonly destroyed. The roof, windows &c are in a deplorable condition.
I cannot but hope that Gen. Swayne, when he reflects on all the circumstances will consider it within the pale of his duty to preserve the building and contents, as promptly as possible from the destruction which is rapidly progressing. 
Ten thousand dollars would not repair the damages of the last four months.
