Chaplain Goodfellow says on his endorsement that Mr. Selzner had been reported a secessionist, which report to the Chaplain is at minimum a misrepresentation if not done ridiculous Jealousy or sentiments more than this Mr. Selzner is no more a secessionist as I am. he is I am proud to state a personal friend of mine, whom I can surely say of that he had never anything to do with either one of the parties opposing each other in the struggle of the Rebellion.

Further more he is a french subject & I do not believe that the Govt has a right to take possession of his property whatever.
