Enclosed you will see a letter from the colored boy Richard to his father Roland and his brother
and sisters all of whom are in my employment. The boy Richard was taken from his home by a party of the 13th Indiana Cavalry. Richard is only thirteen years old and his father wants him to return to him, the boy Richard also sent word to his father from (Columbus Mississippi) that he was very anxious to come back to him. Can you aid the colored man Roland in any way to get his son Richard back home. Please let me know what you can do and oblige yours
Respectfully W. M. Oglebee
