having been left without anything but his land - having already consumed his little crop and stock here in their support. that he is willing to make an equitable arrangement with them if he could get them home, where he could take care of them. He also states that the Adjt Genl of Geo has furnished transportation for them to Montgomery Alabama & he now asks you to extend said transportation from Montgomery to Skipworths Landing on the Mississippi River. so that when we leave this point he may not be delayed having no one but himself to look after them & would greatly increase the expense of feeding them on the road. He states he is almost an entire stranger in Georgia and Alabama - but would refer you for his standing at home to Hon. W L Sharkey the provisional Governor of Misp. Judge Yeager  and Honbe Fulton Anderson of Jackson Misp & Honbe Thos A Marshall of Vicksburg. I should be greatly obliged, if you would write me at your earliest leisure as I am anxious to reach home before bad weather sets in
