General

I have the honor to report that agreeably to your request I have obtained from Maj Gen Woods a guard consisting of one company of the 86" U.S.C Infty and one company of the 21" Mo Vols the latter mounted This guard I have sent under Capt Poillon in Claiborne with instructions to look after the interests of the Freedmen in the Northern Counties of this distinct and to use every means in his power to correct all evils said to in those localities

Gen Woods has written to General Sheridan in regard to the matter spoken of in your confidential letter and requested him to have a strict watch kept on the Florida
