I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of the 9th inst, reporting the operations of your Department, for the week ending that date.
The Commissioner has been pleased to learn that friendly relations still exist between yourself and the Provisional Governor, and that through your instrumentality, the Constitutional Convention has passed such favorable ordinances touching the administration of Freedmens affairs in Alabama.
In reply to the 1st application set forth in your communication above referred to for the assignment to your control of all real estate and buildings sized as property of the late Rebel Government, your attention is invoked to a communication from this office of the 10th inst, in answer to a
