General Wager Swayne
A. C. B F etc

Sir:

I have the honor to state that a letter just rec'd from Mr L. D. Mears in charge of our schools at Mobile, informs me that the order to leave the Medical College of which you notified me, has been revoked, and that we are to be permetted to continue to occupy the Said building upon the Condition that we put a new roof upon the building. While I was in Mobile I engaged a Competent Mechanic to make an estimate of the Cost of [[strikethrough]] putting [[/strikethrough]] making the new roof in question He estimated the Cost at $1500. Then before the building Can be used during the winter, new windows will, for the most part, have to be made at a Cost of some $1200. The expense, therefore, of fitting up the building will not be less than $2700, a sum which in my judgment it would be unwise to expend upon such an object and which moreover
