Dear Sir,
I take the liberty to urge the employment or appointment of Capt. F. J. Meyer of Canton in some position in connexion with the Freedmen.  I have known him for many years, as a very active efficient citizen admirably fitted to care for either plantations or freedmen, and I know he is very deserving of any favor the Government can bestow upon him. He took a very active part in enlistments in the beginning of the War and served as Lieut of an Ohio Battery for more than two years.
