Office Assistant Commissioner, Bureau of Refugees, }
Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, }
Montgomery Ala., Sept. 28th 1865.

Maj. F. H. Wilson
A.A.G. Dept. of Alabama,

Major
I have the honor to request that a garrison of not less than one Company of Infantry be sent to Bladon Springs in Choctaw County, and a similar detail to Gosport Landing, in Clarke County.

Major Miller has just returned from a tour through these Counties and represents the necessity as urgent for such a step, and his reasons are such as induce me to make the request.

I would also ask that the Officers designated be men of intelligence and judgement to whom may be committed the transactions of the ordinary duties of this Office.

I would further suggest that twelve or fifteen men of of each garrison be mounted.

I shall take pleasure in furnishing you Maj. Miller's report, and will do so as copies can be obtained.

Very Respectfully
