Shall they, may it please Your Excellency continue safely sheltered, until the first violence of the storm of indignation is overpast?

It cannot be doubtful with us that the President of the United States will esteem it a rare and precious privilege, in so clear a case of simple kindness to the weak, without injustice to the strong, to secure for himself a harvest of benedictions for the lowliest of the land, who even because they are the lowliest, have a first claim to generous justice

The rapid return of estates in all parts of the South, to their former owners, has already almost estopped schools in many places; and the violent antipathy of the already dominant classes, will all but extinguish them elsewhere, as now at Mobile, unless the potential Aid of Executive favor shall stay them in instances like the present.
