American Freedmen's Aid Commission, SECRETARY'S OFFICE, 444, Fourteenth Street, above G, Washington, D.C., Oct 31st 1865 MATTHEW SIMPSON, President. JACOB R. SHIPHERD, Secretary. Wager Swayne Brig Gen'l and Com'nr &c. Montgomery My dear General: It seems the order in favor of the loyal Dean of the Mobile Faculty was given some days before your favor informed me of his call for such an order. This appears from the note of Col Woodhull of which I enclose a copy together with a copy of Gen Howard's note transmitted with it. However I observe that Gen Howards order requires first the procurement of other and necessarily of suitable quarters for the schools. I suppose a pin may safely be stuck there?. N'est ce pas?. - Well, the Right will come uppermost bye and bye. Very Faithfully Your's Jacob. R. Shipherd Secretary (OCS)
