Colonel:
When I closed (temporarily) my school at Mongomery, I promised the colored people there, that if I should not return I would send some suitable person to take charge of the school. [[strikethrough]] there [[/strikethrough]] I did this on the ground of assurances from the Office in Chicago that teachers would be sent me during the month of October. At this date I am without any intimation that the teachers referred to are really coming and the Sup't of our schools [[strikethrough]] here [[/strikethrough]] in this city, who has quite recently returned from Chicago tells me that he knows of none to be sent, unless therefore the General shall have made arrangement for the obtaining of teachers for the school at Montgomery or shall have assurance from Mr Shipherd that such teachers are coming forthwith
