I have the honor to submit the following report in regard to the supposed difficulty between the Soldiers & Negros at this place. On Sunday the 22nd of July 1866. the Negros in this community assembled for a general baptism, at what is called the big Spring, situated upon the outskirts of Huntsville, a little less than a half mile from the Quarters occupied by this Command} Bout 3 P.M. in the midst of the ceremonies. Private James Keating, John McDonnell, Thos Cummings, and Terrence F. Smith. went down to the  spring all somewhat under the influence of intoxicating liquors. And tried to cross a narrow foot bridge which spanned the creek, and was crowded with Negros. The Negros not giving way from [[?]]
