I have the honor to state that schools for freedmen are in operation, or were, previous to the Summner Nation, in the following counties: 

Madison, Limestone, Lawrence, Lauderdale, Franklin, Tuscaloosa, Talla-dega, Sumter, Marengo, Greene, Perry, Dallas Mobile, Conecuh, Butler, Pike, Montgomery Macon, Barbour, Autauga & Russell. & Jackson.

Schools are located in the above-mentioned counties at the following places:
