Talladega March 16/66

Col. C. Cadle,

Dr Sir
The Commissary at this place insists that he has no order that authorize the issuance of supplies in bulk even to the County officers. On the contrary he insists that the published order of the Commissary Genl sent out last year expressly prohibit the issue of rations in bulk .&c

Capt Taylor is absent and will be for a month perhaps. Lieut Compton who is acting says he has no instructions with regard to the drawing supplies in bulk for County agents. Your letter to Capt Taylor cannot be found and the supposition is that he carried it with him.

Please give the necessary information and instructions to enable these officers to distribute the supplies sent to this depot according to the plan agreed upon.
The rations ordered reached this place day before yesterday, and many are actually suffering for the want of them.

Your immediate attention will greatly oblige

Very Respectfully
Your obt Srvt
M.H. Cruikshank
