pleasure of several personal interviews with you on this subject, I deem it unnecessary to give a detailed account of the fearful destitution which exists in our county.
If you send us any rations, I suggest that you have them marked, "Rations for Randolph County, West Point, Ga., Care of Dr. Wiley & White." I hope, General, that you, or, in case of your absence, the officer who may be supplying your place, will find it convenient to respond immediately to this appeal, made in behalf of suffering women and children, and this merit the reward which a kind Providence always bestows upon such kind offices.

Your Obt. Servant, W. E. Connelly.

P.S. Please write to me immediately, whether you send the rations or not, so that we may know what further action to take. Address me at "Roanoke, Randolph Co., Ala via West Point, Ga."
W.E.C.
