ART. 10th. Every contract for service between the freedman and his employer shall mean service each day of the week, Sundays only expected ; and when the nature of the service requires it, it shall include Sundays also ; and in all cases where any time is intended to be reserved for the freedman it must be so stated in the contract.
ART 11th. All contracts for service between the freedmen and white employers, pre-supposes cheerful and honest service on the part of the freedman and respectful obedience to the orders and directions of his employer ; and on the part of the employer, humane treatment, kind deportment and protection for the freedmen while in the performance of such service.
ART. 12th. It shall be the duty of the Executive Committee to prescribe, from time to time, rules of labor, and the duties, obligations and privileges incidental to contracts of hireing, growing up and existing between the employer and employee ; and such rules and regulations to change and alter according to circumstances, and the seasons to which they may be adapted.
ART. 13th. It shall be the duty of the said Association to provide a home for the aged and helpless freedmen of the county, and for such others as are unable to make an honest support, and to see that they are provided with the necessaries of life-to devise ways and means for their permanent relief and support
ART. 14th. In no case where a freedman is under obligations to work or perform service for any white employer, can he make a valid contract with any other person for like service until the first contract is cancelled ; and any white employer, a member of this Association, who hires of employs any freedman, knowing him to be under obligations for service to another employer, shall forfeit all protection of this Association, and may be expelled from the Association by a unanimous vote of the Executive Committee.
ART. 15th. It shall be the duty of this Association, and all the officers thereof, to favor, as much as possible, the education and schooling of the colored children in said county, and to aid in devising ways and means, and making arrengments for having said children properly taught and their general morals taken care of.
ART. 16th. In the inspection of all contracts by said Executive Committee, it must be an object of first importance to see that the freedmen is therein provided with comfortable food and clothing and the necessaries of life, or the means of obtaining the same.
ART. 17th. As one of the great objects of this Association is agricultural it is distinctly understood that all contracts made between the white man employer and freedman are to be for the current year, except in the cases of mechanics.
ART. 18th. It shall be the duty of the Executive Committee aforesaid, from time to time, to levy such taxes upon the members of this Association as may be requisite for carrying on the business of the Association, not exceeding, in any case, the rate of five dollars per head per annum for each freedman in his or her employment ; and all monies, when collected and in the hands of the Treasurer, shall be paid out only on the order or warrant of the President of this Association
