In accordance with your letter to us through Maj Knott, we enclose you copies of our Pardons, Letters of acceptance, Oaths of Amnesty and Copy of Deeds to the Lands on corner of Water and Broad Streets known as the wayside Hospital claimed by you as captured property and labelled by the District attorney of the United States Circuit Court. The District attorney claims and we have acknowledged judgment in his court, to the amount of damages and have settled the same and had the property released all but the roof and a few planking around, claimed by the United  States Government as being the property of the so called Confederate Government.
We are willing at any time at your convenience to settle with you on amicable & reasonable terms, for the roof and plank. Mr. J. W. Lapsley who is a party to the original deed has sold his interest to us and if required we can furnish you a copy of his pardon and the copy of the deed, when said 'deed is complete and also a copy of H. H. Ward's pardon, who deeded his interest to J. E. Prestridge a copy of which is furnished you. Mr. J. W.
