Colonel
Your communication of the 1st inst has been received, ordering me at once to remove the Commissary Stores from the Store House Huilelle Building corner of Broad, and Water Streets, into the other Store; corner of Broad and Alabama Streets, there to give possession of the other to the owner thereof:
I have the honor to state, that I have received a large amount of Stores, from Mobile, and hourly expect more; accounting in all to ten hundred and sixty six Barrels; and eighty Boxes; where you direct me to put them, would entertain more than one third, of the amount, besides Quartermaster and other Stores; which I now have in possession, the Store you order me to vacate; being spacious and on the ground floor is well adapted to Commissary business; what shall I do in the matter. I have no tarpaulin to protect Stores.
Very Respectfully &c
Joseph Groves
