I am sorry to inform you that Lieut Geo Shorkley, Commanding Post, and Superintendent of the Bureau is very low, he has been sick since the 18th inst. at times his mind wanders, and he becomes unconscious. Dr. Burleigh, is attending him and says he is affected with "Typhoid Fever, all that can be done for him shall be done.

On the 18th inst Capt. W. C. Arthur, C. S. arrived here, and was taken down with sickness, at present he is at my room, quite low, his disease is Intermittent Fever, the extent of sickness among Northern men in this City is becoming frightful.
