Lieutenant
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of the 6th inst instructing me to repair and alter a building in this city the property of the Bureau which is intended for a school House.

I have also received verbal instructions from Lieut Geo Shorkley 15th Infantry U.S.A. Super't of the Bureau at this Post to contract for or have made as I deem best a sufficient number of Desks for said school. Is it intended that the amount specified in your $200.00 should pay for Desks, repairs & alterations? If so I would respectfully inform you that the appropriation is insufficient to perform all. Please let me have definite instructions on this point, also whether it is intended that I should take up and account for all material, articles Labor, Desks &c on my monthly returns of Q.M. property appertaining to the Bureau. I shall start men to work on the building this day.

I am Lieutenant
Respectfully
