Dr Sir

The child to which we have in question, is a motherless one, which those Negros never claimed until after they were free.

This boy Isham never has owned it - untill recently, it seems strange that they would come & claim it, It has been [[strikethrough]] been [[/strikethrough]] raised entirely by hand. Its mother had two children, neither one of them were owned by any one. If they claim it they must come & pay the bond of the child, up to this time - I cant see why or how they have anymore rite to that child than I would to any other motherless child in the county, having no father or mother Living, I am hops you will above a fair - Investigation of the mother -
