U. S. Subsistence Department,
Mobile. Ala. Nov. 16th 1866

Dear Col.

I arrived in this delightful town safely, at 1.30 P.M. yesterday I found a "pile" of accumulated papers on my desk to attend to, and I will not be able to start for New Orleans before Sunday on account of office duties. I think everything is going on right. Enclosed I send you a letter from Mr Perkins who is acting as my agent in New Orleans. I will send you exact weights when I get to N.O.

Kind regards to all my friends

Yours truly
W A Elderkin
