said act is not a Military Offense, but that it is an offense cognizable by the Civil Authorities and property subject to their jurisdiction Your petitioner would therefore pray your Excellency to interfere in his behalf, as he understands from the late Proclamation of His Excellency Gov. L.E. Parsons, late Provisional Governor of Alabama and from other acts of the Government that the Civil Courts of the Country [[strikethrough]] will [[/strikethrough]] have jurisdiction of all violations of the laws of the State of Alabama.  Your petitioner would therefore respectfully pray that Your Excellency will interpose in his behalf and use the influence of Your Excellency to get his case transferred to the Civil Authorities of the State of Alabama, where he is ready to have his case tried and disposed of -
