June the 6th 1866

Respectfully returned to General Wood. Mobile Ala after dieu [[due]] notice for the report of Capt Whetsel.
Can onely say 1st that whone as he says in his Report that he directed his by bidder not to allow the horse to sell for less than one hundred dollars I was the auctioner but I did not know any man as his by bidder as he bid on the horse all the time him self and I struck the horse off to him at about $60.00 as the bill of sale will show if properly made out- or that I can not say of my own knowlidge as I did not examens and assigne that bill of sale as I always had done before so by this I can not say - but would say that when the horse was struck off to him at $60.00 I told the clerk in his presents to charge the horse to me that I would pay the money and send the
